Video CV

PERSONAL FEEDBACK:

This was my second attempt in presenting myself and making a video CV. I found it difficult to talk using bullet points so I decided to make a full script. One thing that went wrong was that I repeated some topics like experimenting and projects I've worked on, making my video go over the 4mn limit. Looking at my video I think the information i gave about myself was good but i could have gone into more detail with some parts. I also forgot to talk about my work experience and other achievements. Visually I think the lighting is good but the background isn't great. Next time I want to record in my own room and show some of my textiles work in the backround to get the people watching to look at my style and my work. I also think what im wearing makes me look profesional but im thinking about wearing a red shirt to show off a bit more of my personality through clothes. I will also want to use a mircophone because the audio quality is not great. I will also want to include videos and photos of my work while im talking about them to show what my style is and to make the video more intresting. I also will add other key words and replace words such as unique because ive gotten feedback about using simple words and  i want to sound proffesional and to get the viewers attention by using key words. A CV is supposed to stand out in order to get the viewers attention and intrest in you so that is why im planning to make a more enticing CV

PEER FEEDBACK:

You've done an excellent job providing detailed insights into your work and creative process. Your discussion of specific inspirations, especially your love for Tim Burton, adds a personal and engaging touch to your presentation. However, to enhance your video, consider making it more concise and focused by trimming unnecessary details and avoiding mind blanks. Visuals could be a great addition to illustrate your points and keep the audience engaged. Additionally, pay attention to your audio volume to ensure clarity in your narration. Overall, you're on the right track, and with some refinements, your CV can become even more impactful.

First Visual CV

This CV In my opinion looks Decent and it has most of the information that is needed in a cv but it's missing some things like the hard skills and soft skills and a bit more information about me at the top. I don't like how boring this CV is. It doesn't reflect me and its not show my style or personality through this CV. I also plan to use another picture and make sure the picture is not distorted. I do like the small icons I think it gives some visual cues to what each part is talking about. I also think I should add different interests because they have changed since I made this CV. I like the stars I added for languages. I will add the stars to represent my level when talking about hard and soft skills.

Personally, I don't like this photo, the black and white make me the same color as the wall and look like I'm blending into the wall. It's also very bland and I don't like how I look in this photo. It does look professional but there is no contrast in the photo. If i were to redo this photo I would wear and white shirt and a black tie to have contrast.

Since I'm doing an artistic CV I chose this photo of me taking photos. I do like the photo because it shows me in action doing something artistic. The main issue about this photo is that it doesn't show my face and isn't a great photo for the main CV picture. I could add this picture as an extra on my cv to show me in the process of what I've added to my skills (photography).

I like this photo because it's a weird but fun angle and looks artistic. I like the black and white in this photo i think it looks really good with a red background and it's taken with a good quality photo  Which perfectly describes my style. One thing I don't like about this photo is that it's not professional. I think in a professional photo I should be wearing a tie and a shirt and pose in a professional manner.

In my opinion this photo is nice it shows my artistic side and shows a bit about myself. Wearing the headphones shows that i like music and the flowers in my mouth shows that im artistic and have a fun way of showing it. This picture in my opinion isnt proffesional and again the flower covers my face which for a cv isnt great. I chose to use black and white because of my cv layout. I think black and white looks good with a red backround.

Smile Campaign

Primary Research

As part of my primary research I decided to make an online survey to get some results on what makes people happy. The majority of my results came from students in the WSO community. The majority of my answers were responded by students at the age of 15-18, I did have some students that were younger (10-13) . Additionally, there were 2 parents that were able to participate in my survey which gave me more variety. While looking at my survey results the most common answer for 5 things that makes the respondents happy were friends, pets , family, music and tv. 85% of the respondents said friends,52% of the respondents said family, 62% of respondents said pets, 38 percent of the respondents said music and 38% said tv. The rest that were most common included nature, sports and food. For the next question (do pets make you smile) the survey showed that 100% of the responders agree that animals make people smile. This tells me that all of the responders react positively with pets and animals and it brings them joy. Additionally I asked if friends make them smile/happy and 90% said yes while 10 percent said sometimes. This relates to the next question where I asked what makes you unhappy. I detected a pattern that the majority of the responders said that bullying or being talked to behind their back, drama and losing friends makes them feel unhappy. This helps me answer the last question; there are times where friends can stab you in the back or treat you badly and that can cause someone to feel unhappy especially since most of the responders are secondary students in the WSO community. Where the majority of the respondents felt most happy was in their bedroom. I also gathered that most people feel happiest with someone they have a good connection with, like a partner, family or friend. With all this information I know that everyone has different things that make them happy but there are a lot of main factors in their lives that make them smile/happy.( who did i survey). The majority of the students that were in the age of 15-18 said that friends made them the happiest, i believe that is because during this age people like to socialize and bond well with friends and tend to have very strong connections to. The younger respondents also said that friends make them happy which makes me think that everyone has one thing in common. This information i have gathered proves my point of friends making people the happiest.

Secondary Research

In a scientific and psychological way the reason we smile is because it is a social sign that is usually used to communicate to people positively, a smile is also used for non-verbal communication. For example, if someone you know smiles at you, smiling back would be a non-verbal way to say hello or good to see you. Smiles show our positive emotions and intentions. When we are happy or we are glad to see someone, smiling shows in our facial expressions. When our brains feel happy, endorphins are produced and neuronal signals are transmitted to our facial muscles to which triggers a smile. This is the start of the positive feedback and loop of happiness. According to Dr. Isha Gupta a neurologist from "IGEA Brain and Spine explains, a smile spurs a chemical reaction in the brain, releasing certain hormones including dopamine and serotonin." When you smile dopamine increases the feeling of happiness. Additionally, serotonin release is related to reduced stress. Smiling is nothing more than an instinct and can't be controlled. We don't just smile when we are happy. We can replicate a smile by squinting our eyes and moving our math. The 3 main things that make people smile are close relationships (family, friends, pets), a job or past memory that someone loves (nostalgia), and helping others. The reason friends and close relationships make people smile is because they prevent isolation and loneliness and give you purpose. Feeling needed is a big factor to happiness because it makes people feel, too. Friends can also: Increase your sense of belonging and purpose. Boost your happiness and reduce your stress. In the video above I noticed that a lot of people feel happy with family, friends, and animals which proves my primary research is correct. I also noticed that kids are more specific and tend to have fun by themselves more, like playing with toys, swimming, etc... I also noticed that food was a very common answer for a lot of people. Music also has a big impact on people and their happiness, which is also something that came up on my primary research. The reason why people enjoy music so much is that Engaging with music can trigger the same biological and psychological responses associated with other highly fundamental rewards, such as food, sex, or rewards like money. According to psychology today The experience of intensely pleasurable music can cause dopamine release in the reward system.

Veggie Quest

Proposal

Use of words/ language/ text: In the advert i will not have direct narration/ talking. I will include diegetic sound which might have some narrative but it will not be noticeable. The advert will include text at the end presenting the smile campaign, and a small quote/ inspirational phrase. The advert might include some minimal phrases.

Style and genre/format of advert : It is realistic but its more dreamlike. The advert is based of real situations and feelings and the characters are also real. The only part that is not overly realistic is the scene where when the door opens everyone is dancing. The advert itself is a dream of what a perfect first day of school looks like. Im advertising a feeling which is hard to do that’s why i decided to make it kind of like a dream, because a dream can be anything and usually in a good dream people get what they want.

Mise-en-scene - including object/ Colour connotation: Color connotation will be added to my advert. In my advertisement the color and mood will change overtime. At first i will make it look very dim and sad by adjusting the lighting and the filter in my video. I will use some props such as a boom box for the final scene where everyone is dancing, a “time table” to make it clear that the character is lost and confused about the time table.

Sound track : Lie in the sun by ORKAS. i chose this copy right free song because its happy and lively and very catchy. In the advert i will be using an app called moises which separates the vocals and the instruments in a song. My plan is to include just the vocal part in the beginning of the advert when the lighting is low and the overall setting is sad/ uncomfortable. As the character develops in the advert the lighting and setting will look brighter and brighter and i will include more and more instruments to the song so it is clear there is a change of mood. The reason why i want the music to start with vocals only is because they give a sense of disassociation and a feeling of loneliness.

Editing/post production: In my advert i want to include transitions to give the advert a more professional feel and a sleeker and more satisfying video production. I will also try to match the beat of the music to my advert, the scenes will change on beat to create a more professional and satisfying advert.

Demographics- age, Gender, Socio economic status. My target audience for this advert is students in general but specifically WSO students. I believe my advert is relatable to all students who have had to move to a new school and be new and a stranger to everyone. The gender is unisex, The advert is for any gender. The economic status of the students in the adverts are privileged since they have the great opportunity to go to a premium school and have good education.

For the Smile Campaign, I embarked on a journey of primary research by engaging with individuals within my school community, seeking their valuable input through a carefully designed survey. The intent was to gain deep insights into what brings smiles to the faces of my peers, especially considering that my chosen target audience for this campaign was W.S.O Students. This strategic approach aimed to ensure that the campaign resonated with my target audience

To ensure a well-rounded understanding of the factors that induce smiles, I cast a wide net by approaching students from various academic years. This diversity was essential to capture the nuanced preferences and sources of happiness that might vary among different age groups.

The survey itself was thoughtfully crafted, with questions carefully chosen to provide meaningful data that could be directly translated into the campaign's content. One notable discovery emerged from a simple question: "What or who makes you smile?" An overwhelming majority of respondents enthusiastically mentioned their friends. Recognizing the importance of this response, I decided to place friends at the very heart of my campaign. This choice was not only reflective of the survey results but also aligned with the genuine human connections that bring joy to our lives.

Another intriguing insight that surfaced was the mention of music as a significant source of happiness. Music has a unique ability to evoke emotions and create a sense of joy. Armed with this knowledge, I incorporated upbeat and feel-good music into my campaign to enhance its overall impact. By weaving these musical elements into the campaign, I aimed to amplify the positive emotions and make the content more engaging and enjoyable for the audience.

Moreover, my research revealed a strong affinity among my peers for meeting new people. This desire for social interaction and expanding their social circles was a key finding that guided me in designing activities and events within the campaign. I sought to create opportunities for students to come together, fostering new connections and experiences that would undoubtedly bring smiles to their faces.

In essence, the primary research I conducted served as the bedrock upon which I built my Smile Campaign. It allowed me to create content and activities that were tailor-made for my target audience, ensuring that every element of the campaign had a genuine and meaningful impact. By tapping into the sentiments and preferences of my peers, I not only crafted a campaign that made them smile but also forged a deeper connection within our school community, emphasizing the importance of happiness, friendship, and shared experiences.

Primary research

Secondary research

The goal of Veggie Quest was to inspire folks to eat more plant-based foods through a documentary. For my background research, I delved into the advantages of plant-based diets and uncovered some tasty plant-based recipes. This helped me understand what it takes to follow a plant-based eating plan.

When I brainstormed ideas for my documentary, I took inspiration from the movie "Super Size Me." In that film, a guy ate only McDonald's for 30 days to show how it affects your health. I decided to do a playful twist on that concept, which I called "Veggie Quest Me."

In my documentary, I wanted to include various elements like cooking a plant-based meal, dining out at plant-based restaurants, and something extra - ordering plant-based food online. I figured this would show how easy it is to access plant-based options, especially for busy folks. These days, many people prefer ordering food online because it's convenient.

To include my target audience in the documentary, I thought about where else people can get plant-based meals. That's when it hit me - I could show myself ordering plant-based food online to highlight the convenience.

I looked into different eateries that offer plant-based choices and settled on a fast-food joint called Pickle. I wanted to demonstrate that being on a plant-based diet isn't just about eating super healthy or green stuff. You can enjoy a plant-based burger from a well-known fast-food place too.

During my research, I paid close attention to the little things. These details helped make my documentary better and encouraged the audience to try ordering plant-based meals online. It's all about making plant-based eating accessible and appealing to everyone.

Mood board

My mood board helped me visualize what my idea was. It guided me through the ideas, the colors I wanted to use, and the general aesthetic of the video. The color swatches I used to make it clear what colors I wanted to use. I used the colors red green and yellow when it came to clothing. I chose those colors because they are vibrant green is associated with health yellow is associated with positivity and red is a fun vibrant color. When it comes to locations I knew I wanted to find a aesthetically pleasing place to film especially in the restaurant.
